Biography


Diogo Chaves is a portuguese-born composer. He's currently at the National Film and Television School, taking the MA in Composition.

Graduated at UCP with a BA in Sound and Image in 2019. In early 2022, Diogo graduted summa cum laude from UCP with a MA in Sound Design, being awarded the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Award for the best final grade in the Master's.


Diogo Chaves is a composer, musician and producer. He has composed music for films and commercials. He also works as a re-recording mixer, sound recordist and sound designer.


In 2022, Diogo worked as an in-house music composer, sound designer and re-recording mixer at Building Pictures. He was also the composer and sound designer for the highly successful podcast "No País dos Arquitectos" (between episodes 41 and 52).


Between 2020 and 2021, Chaves was an intern at Digitópia - Casa da Música (EN - House of Music, Porto), working at orchestral live shows at the House, sampling, archiving, and music technology.


Also in 2016, Chaves enrolled at Universidade Católica Portuguesa to take a Bachelor degree in Sound and Image (completed in 2019) and a Master degree in Sound Design (from 2019 to 2021).



He attended the Porto’s Music Conservatory, studying piano and music theory, from the preparatory until the 5th grade (2004 - 2011), having won, during this time, multiple awards in national, iberian and international piano competitions.


In 2011, joined Rockschool to learn piano focusing on Pop, Rock and Jazz, where he remained until 2014 after completing the program. 


In 2016, returned to Rockschool to take the RSL Music Production course (2016 - 2018).
